Use Templates in a Project
Completix supports templates in two distinct contexts: project templates managed by administrators, and document templates available when creating new documents. This guide covers both workflows.
Project Templates
A project template in Completix is a fully configured project that can be reused as a starting point for new work. Templates can include tasks, schedule, custom fields, settings, documents, and any other project configuration.
Creating a project template
To create a new project template, navigate to Site Admin, then open the Templates section. From there you can create a new template project and configure it fully, including:
- Phases, tasks, and milestones
- Custom fields and field values
- Project settings and permissions
- Attached documents or linked resources
Because a template is itself a full project, any configuration you can apply to a live project can also be set in a template.
Creating a project from a template
When creating a new project, you will be prompted to choose a starting template. Select the template that best matches your project type and Completix will pre-populate the new project with all of the template's configuration.
Changing the Schedule Template
Within an existing project, the only component where you can switch to a different template is the Schedule. This lets you apply a new schedule structure without having to recreate the project.
- 1Open your project and go to the Schedule view.
- 2Click the More menu (the
…icon) in the schedule toolbar. - 3Select Change Template from the dropdown.
- 4The template picker will open. Browse or search your available templates, then click a template name to apply it.
Document Templates
Document templates work independently from project templates. When creating a new document inside a project, you can choose to start from a template rather than a blank page.
- 1Inside your project, navigate to the Documents area.
- 2Click + New Document and select New from Template.
- 3The document template library opens. Browse or search available templates and click a template in the left panel to preview it on the right.
- 4Click Use to create a new document pre-filled with the template's structure and content.
